  2. The story of sentrawerks - Engine part 6 (exhaust)

    Exhaust:
The exhaust is usually the single biggest upgrade to any car. Usually they are so restrictive from the factory the hurt the fuel economy as well as performance. All for the sake of quiet and marginally fewer emissions. The factory exhaust system was removed in its entirety to be replaced with a custom header back system.
Starting out, the header is first on the list. There aren't any real "race" headers on the market for a GA16. However a few companies make/made ...

  3. The story of sentrawerks - Engine part 5 (Intake manifold and fuel delivery)

    Intake:

Since i used the 95+ B14 cylinder head, the intake from the same motor must be used be cause the ports are completely different. This is OK since the B14 intake has a slightly better port design. 4. The story of sentrawerks - Engine part 4 (Bottom end- Part 2)

The ARP rod bolts are a a little bit different than the oem Nissan bolts. The ARP bolts to use are for a datsun 510 L16. The kit number is 102-6001. Here is the email i got from ARP:

No worries. The closest bolt we manufacture is kit 102-6001. This e only significant difference is the under head length. Ours is 2.000” and the OE according to your dimension below is 1.910”. This means the 1.340” dimension below is 1.450” on our bolt.

    Any questions ...

  5. The story of sentrawerks - Engine part 4 (Bottom end- Part 1)

The bottom end is a bit of a beast. Maybe compared to big brother sr20 its a little weaker, but compared to the rest of the 1.6L animals out there its a juggernaut. At the same time i was building this engine i was building a 4age from an 85 Toyota corolla AE86. The 4ag had the ga16 licked in the cylinder head dept, but when it came to the bottom end the ga16 put the peoples elbow on the 4ag. All by itself the ga16 block was a full 32lbs heavier than the 4ag, and that weight was in the places it ...
